7226905Born in 1968, I discovered fishing shortly after walking, a boon, considering I lived in South Florida. After a brief move to Kentucky, my family trekked back to the Sunshine State. I had the good fortune to attend high school in idyllic upstate New York, where I learned about a mythical substance known as “Seasons”. After two or three failed attempts at college, I bought a bar. That was fun because I love beer, but, then, I eventually met someone smarter than me (a common event), and, in this case, she married me and convinced me to go back to school–which I did, with enthusiasm. I earned a Master’s Degree in History and rediscovered my love for writing. My novels explore dark fantasy, immortality, and the nature of love as we know it. I live near Nashville, Tennessee, with the aforementioned wife, son, and herd, and, when I’m not writing, I teach history, grow wildly enthusiastic tomato plants, and restore my 1967 Mustang.

review

This is my first story by this author and I loved listening to this book! I am a sucker for pretty much anything that has to do with angles. I encourage you to get your hands on this story because I promise you won't be disappointed.

Livvy is a teenager that is born with a rare heart condition. When a very handsome stranger walks into the library where she works her world takes on a sudden change. Keiron is a Heartborn angel and must protect Livvy.  He gets thrust down to earth while his absence back at home is on the brink of war.

The author did an amazing job with the world building. It was so vivid and tangible. The chapters are told from different settings and points of views but the transition through them transitioned very nice. I also liked the character development within the story. I always love a good plot driven story that makes me feel like I am apart of the story and that is exactly how I felt. This is really a beautiful story.

The writing added to the wow factor for the story. Although it was quick I felt the writing took a pace that was well engaging and kept me wanting to keep listening throughout the day.

I just love the narrator's voice. It was calm and very fitting for this story as well. She made the characters come to life and made the world very vivid. This is my first audio book that I have listened to with Whelan as the narrator and I look forward to listening to more of her works.

The Mister Book Review

Goodreads synopsis:  London, 2019. Life has been easy for Maxim Trevelyan. With his good looks, aristocratic connections, and money, he’s never had to work and he’s rarely slept alone. But all that changes when tragedy strikes and Maxim inherits his family’s noble title, wealth, and estates, and all the responsibility that entails. It’s a role he’s not prepared for and one that he struggles to face.   But his biggest challenge is fighting his desire for an unexpected, enigmatic young woman who’s recently arrived in England, possessing little more than a dangerous and troublesome past.  Reticent, beautiful, and musically gifted, she’s an alluring mystery, and Maxim’s longing for her deepens into a passion that he’s never experienced and dares not name. Just who is Alessia Demachi? Can Maxim protect her from the malevolence that threatens her? And what will she do when she learns that he’s been hiding secrets of his own?   I will admit I did have some kind of salty feelings going int
