I have been blogging for almost a year and this blog has taken off in so many ways that I did not think was possible. I have all of you to thank for that. What started out as me just posting reviews on books that I enjoyed turned into being involved in book tours, working with authors and publishers, and meeting new bloggers in the blogging community. Since this blog has grown I have decided to have a good friend of mine blog with me. I am in school and the only time that I can truly commit to blogging is during the months that I am not in school or when I am on holidays. I would love to introduce Candie as a fellow blogger at Highway-Y.A! :)

I am a Graphic Artist for a Library System but I have always had a love for people especially young people! I have a background in Children’s education of almost 12 years some of which was the very challenging Montessori teaching method. I have also worked with high school and college age students through my church for a number of years and have done volunteer work for a local radio station. I now work for a library where I get to do all kinds of fun things like teach classes to all ages and figure out fun things to challenge people with art!
I have always been a reader since I was very young and have had my own library card since I was old enough to have one! My favorite genre is dystopian!!! I just love all the futuristic things author come up with! It amazes me the imagination it takes to bring things to life that don’t even exist! I see things as I read them and that is how I decide whether a book is good or not. If I can see a picture of what I am reading well enough that the story plays out in my head I am in love with that book from the start! This is my favorite reading genre but I read all types of things and basically if it reaches out and grabs me by the end of the first chapter, I am reading it to the end!
Some of my favorite things to do besides reading are painting, sewing, quilting just about any kind of crafting! I don’t sit still very well. I am always doing something. It’s rare that I don’t have a project or two going at one time! Oh, although I don’t get to do it as much as I used to I am a singer as well.
