Book Revew: Henrietta the Dragon Slayer(The Five Kingdoms #1) by Beth Barany

Disclaimer: I was sent this free ebook by the author in exchange for an honest review   Henrietta, the legendary Dragon Slayer of the Kingdom of Bleuve, can't stomach the thought of one more kill. Yet, in order to save her dying mentor, she must go on one last quest. But will misfit companions, seasickness, and an ego maniacal king derail the quest for the healing stone? And will she be able to cut past her conscience and kill the dragon? __________________________________________________________________________ Although I am not a big fantasy fan I did enjoy reading this book. I loved that Barany wrote Henrietta as a strong, independent, and no taking crap from anybody type of person. Anytime I read reviews or synopsis of a strong lead heroine it automatically has won me over. This story is about adventure and friendship.   Henrietta is on a quest to save her mentor that has fallen ill. Even though she never thought that she would go back she felt compelled to ...

Book Review: Citizen by Natasha R. House

Disclaimer: I was sent this book by request of the author in exchange for an honest review. Unfeeling eyes stare at Lend as he’s forced up against a metal contraption. A smile curls on the face of a blue skinned, bat-winged creature that towers above him. Blue electricity is pressed crudely to his face, and a voice slithers from the throat of the other worldly being. “There’s nowhere to run, human.” Lend, wrenched away from his home in the wild loses everything in one eternal moment. Not only have these creatures, who call themselves Citizens, steal his world, now his freedom. Forced into the back of a speedcar the aliens take him to a warehouse. Ill fed, terrified humans huddle in the darkness waiting to be purchased by a Citizen. Losing all identity except the name human Lend fights to regain the freedom he, and his race have lost. Purchased by the daughter of the most powerful Citizen on the planet Lend finds his world churning. The female Citizen shows him a new si...

Book of the Day #4: The Naturals by Jennifer Lynn Barnes

Seventeen-year-old Cassie is a natural at reading people. Piecing together the tiniest details, she can tell you who you are and what you want. But it’s not a skill that she’s ever taken seriously. That is, until the FBI come knocking: they’ve begun a classified program that uses exceptional teenagers to crack infamous cold cases, and they need Cassie. What Cassie doesn’t realize is that there’s more at risk than a few unsolved homicides— especially when she’s sent to live with a group of teens whose gifts are as unusual as her own. Sarcastic, privileged Michael has a knack for reading emotions, which he uses to get inside Cassie’s head—and under her skin. Brooding Dean shares Cassie’s gift for profiling, but keeps her at arm’s length. Soon, it becomes clear that no one in the Naturals program is what they seem. Muscle Mondays

For todays Muscle Monday we have Kaiden Rowe from Sweet Peril  VS Patch from Silence . I had a hard time trying to pick which one could be my pick for today because they both are awesome BUT my pick for today would be .........PATCH. Reasons why? 1.) He is incredibly HOT!! 2.) I love the bad boy edge that he has and plus he is an Angel 3.) That over the top smirk that he has when he calls Nora by her nickname. He could literally get away with murder. 4.)He doesn't stop at anything to have Nora (he gave up one thing just to protect and be with her). I'm not trying to give away spoilers here in case someone has not read it. 5.)Perfect Boyfriend Material!!! :))))))) Be sure to comment and link back so I can see who you picked!

As Nikki’s time on the Surface draws to a close and her relationships begin slipping...

Onyx by Jennifer Armentrout

This is the second book in the Lux series by Jennifer L. Armentrout. I don't even know where to begin with this review other than to say that this book was FREAKING AMAZING!!! From the very beginning it was very fast paced with twist and turns throughout the entire book. I loved the character Katy, although there were times I was thinking: "Girl, just get over it and take him." Daemon is obviously in love with her and wants to prove it, but it seemed that every time he tried she would think back to him being the jerk that he WAS but is not anymore. So yea... there were times I wanted to strangle her. First of all it starts out right where Obsidian left off. Daemon is being irresistible, of course, and Katy tries to stay away from him believing that it is his alien "mojo" that the attraction is coming from. At the beginning of the book there isn't much action but it builds and builds until you are looking like a terrible, gushing wind just came out of nowh...

Emblaze by Jessica Shirvington

OMY GOODNESS!!!!!...............JESSICA SHIRVINGTON YOU DID IT AGAIN!!!!!!. I fell in love with this series ever sense I first saw the cover to Embrace and the goodness of it never failed me throughtout the series.  Once again Violet Eden faces an impossible choice ... and the consequences are unimaginable. Violet has come to terms with the fact that being part angel, part human, means her life will never be as it was. Now Violet has something Phoenix - the exiled angel who betrayed her - will do anything for, and she has no intention of letting it fall into his hands. The only problem is that he has something she needs too. Not afraid to raise the stakes, Phoenix seemingly holds all the power, always one step ahead. And when he puts the final pieces of the prophecy together, it doesn't take him long to realise exactly who he needs in order to open the gates of Hell. With the help of surprising new allies, ancient prophecies are deciphered, a destination set and, after a shatt...

Origins by Jennifer Armentrout

Ok. Let me just say that Jennifer Armentrout is the QUEEN OF CLIFFHANGERS. At the end of this book I was flipping pages and saying to myself that this cannot be it!!! There are soo many things going on plot wise and I wish I could give a review and not give anything away so I will try to give you all a good clear review. So for a brief summary about Origins. After the successful but disastrous raid on Mount Weather, he’s facing the impossible. Katy is gone. Taken. Everything becomes about finding her. Taking out anyone who stands in his way? Done. Burning down the whole world to save her? Gladly. Exposing his alien race to the world? With pleasure. All Katy can do is survive. Surrounded by enemies, the only way she can come out of this is to adapt. After all, there are sides of Daedalus that don’t seem entirely crazy, but the group’s goals are frightening and the truths they speak even more disturbing. Who are the real bad guys? Daedalus? Mankind? Or the Luxen? ...

Muscle Mondays

MUSCLE MONDAYS I have given a long though on how I want to create a idea for a meme. I'm knew to blogging so I want to start slow and then we can work from that. I have one in mind that I want to try. This is one that I think would be really cool to participate in. It will be on Mondays. It will be called "Muscle Mondays". I will upload two book cover pictures and put a brief character description of the male leads in the book. You will then  pick your favorite "muscle" and leave a comment of  five reasons why he is your favorite and why he is better than his opponent. Then of course there are those male characters that are so droolworthy that you can't decide. That's ok! You can put down undecided but give five reasons why you are undecided about the characters. This meme will start next Monday which will be 11/19/13 . All you have to do is link back to highway-y.a. on your own Muscle Monday .

Top Ten Covers We Wish We Could Redesign

This meme is hosted by . The Broke and the Bookish . 1. The Hunger Games Series . This is a really great series but to be honest I didn't read the book because the cover of it did not look like it would be interesting. I read the book after I saw the movie and when the hype of it was still at its high. 2. Beautiful Creatures . A friend actually asked me to read this book with her. I absolutely loved the book but the cover screams help. I didn't particular like movie. But the story is so good. 3.Delirium by Lauren Oliver. This cover is so boring and the only reason why i had even picked it up was because I was scanning over it for work. 4.Prophecy by Ellen Oh - I hated the cover but it was a good read 5. Angel Fire by L.A. Weatherly - I loved loved loved this series but i felt the cover looked dated and it reminded me of on of those very old romance paper back books. 6. Hades by Alexandra Adornetto - I felt the cover of this book could have been more sinister lookin...

Then a murder, the first in a generation, rocks the city. With whispers swirling and fear on the wind, Morgan can no longer stop herself from investigating, especially when she meets Judas. He is the boy being blamed for the murder — betrothed to the victim — but Morgan is convinced of his innocence. Secrets lay at the heart of Internment, but nothing can prepare Morgan for what she will find — or who she will lose.

Im Back....YAYYYY!!

I am so happy that I am now able to do some reading and blogging. I am so sorry that I have not been on here at all. I have been so busy with school its crazy. This semester has really got me just worn out. The only things that I have been reading are things for school and literally my weekends consist of nothing but studying. Things are changing for NOW lol. This semester is almost over. I have about a week and a half left but things have slowed down to where I can do some reading and blog about it because I missed it soo much. Right now I am getting ready to read "Endless" by Jessica Shirvington and after that "Origin" by Jennifer Armentrout. I have seen those babies check out at the library and on my "whats hot" shelf and I have been wanting to get my hands on them. I'm so excited right now I want to scream lol. As soon as I finish reading them I will let you all know my thoughts and what I loved or hated (like I'm going to hate them) about the ...
