Book Review: Madame Lilly: Wicked by Dormaine G

(I was sent this ebook by the author in exchange for an honest review) Goodreads Summary:  It's 1890 in New Orleans, a time of rich white men, sprawling plantations, Voodoo, high class parties and the unspoken Placage. Amidst the thick heat, magic and sorrow, a beautiful Creole woman exists in this cruel world. Although born free, she never knew life without the call of a ‘Master’ – until now. Blessed with an ancient power, Madame Lily has an agenda that has galvanized her into the deepest reaches of High Society and to the darkness that is swirling with Voodoo. Elijah is a First Made Protector tasked to guard and cleanse the world of the evils that roam. He spent millennia with only goodness in his heart until cursed – one meant to corrupt his very soul with love, obsession and infatuation… for Madame Lily, a woman that should rightfully be his adversary. Drawn together by fate and magic, these two forces face off and sparks fly. A love that never should have been is born – a

Book Review: Class of '59 by John Heldt

(I received this ebook by the author in exchange for an honest review) Goodreads summary:  When Mary Beth McIntire settles into a vacation house on June 2, 2017, she anticipates a quiet morning with coffee. Then she hears a noise, peers out a window, and spots a man in 1950s attire standing in the backyard. She panics when the trespasser sees her and enters the house though a door to the basement. She questions her sanity when she cannot find him. In the same house on March 21, 1959, Mark Ryan finds a letter. Written by the mansion’s original owner in 1900, the letter describes a basement chamber, mysterious crystals, and a formula for time travel. Driven by curiosity, Mark tests the formula twice. On his second trip to 2017, he encounters a beautiful stranger. He meets the woman in the window. Within hours, Mary Beth and Mark share their secret with her sister and his brother and begin a journey that takes them from the present day to the age of sock hops, drive-ins, and jukeboxes

Book Review: Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake

(I was sent this free ARC by the publisher in exchange for an honest review) Goodreads Summary:  Every generation on the island of Fennbirn, a set of triplets is born: three queens, all equal heirs to the crown and each possessor of a coveted magic. Mirabella is a fierce elemental, able to spark hungry flames or vicious storms at the snap of her fingers. Katharine is a poisoner, one who can ingest the deadliest poisons without so much as a stomachache. Arsinoe, a naturalist, is said to have the ability to bloom the reddest rose and control the fiercest of lions. But becoming the Queen Crowned isn’t solely a matter of royal birth. Each sister has to fight for it. And it’s not just a game of win or lose…it’s life or death. The night the sisters turn sixteen, the battle begins. The last queen standing gets the crown. If only it was that simple. Katharine is unable to tolerate the weakest poison, and Arsinoe, no matter how hard she tries, can’t make even a weed grow. The two queens hav

NaNoWriMo 2016?

When I first heard about NaNoWriMo an author friend of mines was writing her book during this time. Recently since I have been a emerged into the booktube world I see it booming everywhere. If you don't know what NaNoWriMo, (National Novel Writing Month)  it is basically where you spend a month long writing towards your novel in the month of November.  There are daily word count goals that you would try to reach for that day. You can write about anything and on any genre. The total goal is to get to 50,000 words. I have so many "books" that I have tried to write and finish and a lot of ideas swimming in my head to start one. So for this year I decided to try it out and just see where it goes. My user name is The Bibliophile Maniac. Check it out and we can be buddies for the NaNoWriMo

My top 5 Horror/Thriller Book and Movie Recommendations

October is here and is almost gone and it is one of my favorite months. It starts with Halloween, which I love, and is a starter for the upcoming holidays. I know the month is almost over but if you are looking for some recommended reads for the month to get you into the "Halloween spirit" or if you already are in the spirit it could get you even more ready for it. I will also give you my Top 5 movie recommendations as well. "And The Trees Crept In" is a book that I read back in September. This is mostly a mystery and a physiological thriller. At the beginning you automatically knew something was strange and the writing kept pulling you into this dark world. It was weird but a good weird. It is about two sisters that leave their abusive home to live with their Aunt. Thinking that their life would better things take an unexpected turn and events start to happen that no matter how the sisters try to ignore what is going on they can't. Does the trees seem to cree

Book Review: Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon

Goodreads Summary:  My disease is as rare as it is famous. Basically, I’m allergic to the world. I don’t leave my house, have not left my house in seventeen years. The only people I ever see are my mom and my nurse, Carla. But then one day, a moving truck arrives next door. I look out my window, and I see him. He’s tall, lean and wearing all black—black T-shirt, black jeans, black sneakers, and a black knit cap that covers his hair completely. He catches me looking and stares at me. I stare right back. His name is Olly. Maybe we can’t predict the future, but we can predict some things. For example, I am certainly going to fall in love with Olly. It’s almost certainly going to be a disaster. I loved this book! It was beautiful, innocent, and a life adventure. Maddy suffers from SCID meaning she is highly allergic to everything. She basically can't leave the house for anything because it could be fatal to her. Her Mother is the only constant in her life after he
