THE BOY

Can you cross the plains of death, collect every piece of your soul and make it back to the land of the living?

And if you complete the journey, will your loved ones welcome your return?

The Ramyan have been answering such questions since the creation of The Sanctum. A mysterious sect of Magicals, haunting the blank spaces of time and memory, they serve no one but themselves and their higher purpose. They exist on a plane removed from earthly matters, shifting easily between the living and the dead, moving in time to the beat of their own drummer.

At least they did. Dev and Wyatt change all of that when the prophesied hybrid lands on the steps of Rinshun Palace, seeking help for the wounded Class A Warrior. That decision alters lives and sets old agendas back on course. But at what cost to Dev and Wyatt? And does that really even matter?

Book Review: The Collector (Dante Walker bk1) by Victoria Scott

Goodreads synopsis: He makes good girls...bad.

Dante Walker is flippin’ awesome, and he knows it. His good looks, killer charm, and stellar confidence have made him one of hell’s best—a soul collector. His job is simple: weed through humanity and label those round rears with a big red good or bad stamp. Old Saint Nick gets the good guys, and he gets the fun ones. Bag-and-tag.

Sealing souls is nothing personal. Dante’s an equal-opportunity collector and doesn't want it any other way. But he’ll have to adjust, because Boss Man has given him a new assignment:

Collect Charlie Cooper’s soul within ten days.

Dante doesn't know why Boss Man wants Charlie, nor does he care. This assignment means only one thing to him, and that’s a permanent ticket out of hell. But after Dante meets the quirky Nerd Alert chick he’s come to collect, he realizes this assignment will test his abilities as a collector…and uncover emotions deeply buried.

---------------------------------------------------------
My first impression while reading this book was "cocky much?" and "someone is feeling himself". Although have to admit it fit Dante well and I was hooked after only reading the first couple of pages.  Dante Walker is a soul collector and the best at the game. His job is to cause as much bad habits to people that will taint their soul to give to his "Boss Man".  I love that this was written in Dante's POV instead of Charlie. Most PNRs are written from the girl POV and that is ok but I like to see what is going on in the guys head sometimes. Dante is the guy that you would not want to bring home to your parents on first impression but he is obviously hard to not be obsessed over. He does what he wants and dares anyone to question him and will do whatever it takes to not go back to hell and be placed permanently on earth. That is until he is assigned to collect Charlie Cooper's soul.

Charlie is so realistic in so many ways. I love her! She has had heartaches and pain. Dante says that she should be bitter and angry but the way Charlie thinks is "what's the point?". She loves life and I wish that I could have that same outlook on a lot of things. She is beautiful on the inside and that says a lot about her character. Even though she doesn't question a lot of things she still feels insecure about herself and wants to be accepted. That is where she goes to Dante.  I don't want to tell the story so if you have not read the book please read it so we can both fangirl together lol.

Charlie has some of the best friends that anyone could ask for. They are there for her no matter what. Charlie even touched Annabelle and Blue in a way where they see the love of life.

I loved reading this story. It has comedy, hurt, lost, deception, and love all wrapped into one. The growth of the characters especially Dante was beautifully written. I can't wait to get my hands on the next on in the series. Great job Victoria Scott!!!!!!

Book Review: White Hot Kiss by Jennifer Armentrout

Goodreads synopsis: One kiss could be the last

Seventeen-year-old Layla just wants to be normal. But with a kiss that kills anything with a soul, she's anything but normal. Half demon, half gargoyle, Layla has abilities no one else possesses.

Raised among the Wardens—a race of gargoyles tasked with hunting demons and keeping humanity safe—Layla tries to fit in, but that means hiding her own dark side from those she loves the most. Especially Zayne, the swoon-worthy, incredibly gorgeous and completely off-limits Warden she's crushed on since forever.

Then she meets Roth—a tattooed, sinfully hot demon who claims to know all her secrets. Layla knows she should stay away, but she's not sure she wants to—especially when that whole no-kissing thing isn't an issue, considering Roth has no soul.

But when Layla discovers she's the reason for the violent demon uprising, trusting Roth could not only ruin her chances with Zayne…it could brand her a traitor to her family. Worse yet, it could become a one-way ticket to the end of the world.

___________________________________________________________
Jennifer Armentrout is by far is one my favorite Y.A. authors! She is an incredible writer and she just keeps getting better. I fangirl over her Lux series because Daemon is my book boyfriend lol.

White Hot Kiss was so much fun to read and I enjoyed reading it. Layla is a 17 year old who is half warden and half demon. A warden is a race of gargoyles that hunt demons and keep humanity safe. Layla sometimes feels like she doesn't belong with the Wardens who adopted her when she was little because she doesn't quite fit in. She has the power to take a soul if she kisses or even if she gets to close to someone. That makes it very difficult for Layla to have relationships.

I felt two ways while reading about Layla. When she was with the Wardens she seemed just a bit childish and when she was with her friends and Roth she seemed mature. That was just how I felt while reading. Its not a bad thing but sometimes she did come off as whinny.

Zanye is Layla's best friend and he is a Warden. She wants to be with him but knows that he is off limits because of what he is. He is very protective of her and will do anything for her. A part of me thinks that he likes Layla too but we will just have to wait and find out if he does.

Roth is the sexy bad boy of the story and he is everything that Layla should not want but unlike everyone else he understands her. He is an Upper Level demon and he has been sent to keep watch of her. The school scene after they first met had me fangirling all over the place. She changes him and he doesn't realize it until it is put to the test.

At first could not decide if I was team Zanye or Roth. Most of the time I am automatically drawn to the bad/good guy but the good guy in this one has me having a soft spot for him also.  I started to go over and think about the story and by just a slight amount of points I would have to say team Roth. I can still have a soft spot for Zayne and like him also.

Author Interview: K.L Ruse author of the Lost and Found Series

Today I have with me K.L. Ruse who is the author of the Lost and Found Series. The first book in the series is called Found in You. Here is a synopsis of the book before we get to the interview

Goodreads synopsis: Twenty-three-year-old Camryn Singer never imagined that she would return to the place where she lost everything. To grant a dying wish, she moves back to the small Jersey beach town where she grew up, hoping to somehow find the missing pieces of her life. Determined to keep her wounds unopened and her heart guarded, she instead slams head-first into Cole Stevens.

Sexy surfer Cole has always used the waves to numb the pain of his past. But when he runs into Camryn on the beach one day, he wants nothing more than for her to heal his scars and light the spark back in his life.

Will Camryn and Cole be ripped apart when the ghosts from their pasts come back to life, or will they discover that it’s not until you’re lost, that you can be found?

1. What made you want to start writing?
When I was in third grade I had an assignment where I had to create a children’s book to share with the first graders in our school. I spent all my time perfecting this story and my teacher actually chose it to be “published” in our school library. That really made me see my love for writing. From that day on, writing became a part of my everyday life, a true release for me.
2. What are you currently working on?
Besides the marketing of Found in You, right now I am writing the second book in the Lost and Found Series called Saved by You. It picks up where Found in You leaves off but is told from the male character Cole’s point of view.
3. Who are some of your inspirations?
In my personal life, my husband and two daughters are true inspirations. Every word I write will be always be for them.
In the writing world, author A.L. Jackson has inspired me. The emotion in her stories is something I strive to achieve in my own writing.
4. How did you get the idea for your latest book?
I don’t think there was that one moment when the light bulb went on and I had the story for Found in You figured out. I really just wanted to introduce a different twist to the contemporary romance genre and explore some life situations that have some type of meaning to me and my loved ones.
5. If your latest book was a movie, which actors would you see playing your main characters?
I always pictured Mila Kunis when I was writing Camryn’s character in the book and Trevor Donovan for Cole. He’s very hot and has surfer written all over him!
6. What is the process of writing a book like?
For me it’s really a release. I am a part time preschool teacher and the rest of my day I am with my four and five year old daughters. So, when I get the opportunity to sit down at night in front of my laptop, I feel like I’ve entered a different world, my own happy place!
7. Is your latest book going to be part of a series? Or are you looking at something completely new for your next book?
I always intended that Found in You would be two books – one from Camryn’s point of view and the second would tell Cole’s story. So I am currently writing Saved by You in Cole’s point of view and it will continue from where Found in You left off. However, it also flashes back to the past so we get a glimpse of the darkness that Cole seems to be running from in the first story.

However, as I was writing Found in You I felt that many of the secondary characters had such strong voices and that they deserved to be heard as well. So I decided to also write a third and fourth book in this series. The third will be about Heidi and Dusty who are introduced in the first one and then the fourth will be Lila’s and Carter’s story. So Cole, Camryn and Gavin aren’t done after the second book. We will be able to see glimpses of them in the final two books as well!!

8. Do you listen to music while you write? If so, what kinds of music? Or do you need quiet?
Music definitely inspires my writing. I have even created playlists for both Found in You and Saved by You. I really listen to all types of music, but I have always been drawn to alternative. I love discovering small, unknown bands and watch them rise to the top as people start to hear their music. Imagine Dragons, Zac Brown, and Dave Matthews are all favorites of mine.
9. What is your favorite genre to read/write?
I mostly read contemporary romance, however sometimes I dive into the dystopian world as well. Reading is what gave me the courage to write my own romance novel and I don’t think I ever plan on leaving this genre. My mind seems to always go the happily-ever-after.

10. Can we follow you on social media? Do you have a Facebook page and/or Twitter and website?
